The New Face of Downs |
Public Awareness Campaign Informational campaign aimed at challeging the misinformation and negative attitudes about Down Syndrome. |
Mason's House Group Homes Home-setting residences that will provide opportunities for employment, continuing education, and community involvement. |
Just Like Me, But Different Summer Camp Camp experiences designed to integrate special needs and general populations, encouraging children to look beyond disabilities. |
Mount Moriah Farmstead School Enrichment Program A program aimed at teaching school groups about man's relationship with the land and the role that relationship has played in Texas history, and continues to play today. Students will interact with the Farmstead residents, learning that adults with cognitive challenges can be friends and teachers. |
Elder Care With the average life expectancy of a person with Downs now well into the 50s and continuing to climb, quality nursing facilities are needed that will focus on the individual's quality of life in addition to physical needs. |
International Awareness In countries around the world, children with Down Syndrome are simply abandoned. Living on the streets, they are easy prey for those that would take advantage of them. International Awareness programs will export our philosophy and programs abroad to countries like the Dominican Republic. |
Children's Family Home Parents who choose to give their babies a chance for life, but do not feel equipped to face the challenges of Downs can know that their child is growing up in a family environment. |
With the exception of the public awareness campaign, these programs represent our future plans. In order to bring these dreams to reality, we depend on the financial support and volunteer contributions of those who stand with us to change the way the world looks at Downs. |
